Softwaretechnologien sind treibende Kräfte von Innovationen in vielen Branchen auch im Automobil. Eingebettete Software steuert und überwacht Funktionalitäten des Fahrzeugs, unterstützt den Fahrer und realisiert Informationsund Entertainment-Systeme im Fahrzeug. In modernen Fahrzeugen trifft man auf viele Fragestellungen zu Softwaresystemen, deren steigende Komplexität u.a. auf funktionale Vernetzung und heterogene Anforderungen bei enormer Variantenund Konfigurationsvielfalt zurückzuführen ist. Software im Automobil stellt eine der großen Herausforderungen und Anwendungen der Informatik dar.
